Recirculation canopies and ductless extraction
When there is no route to outside, because of listed buildings, shopping centres, landlords or planning, recirculation filters the air and returns it to the room. We design bespoke recirculation systems and make our own unit, Circul8.
Filter, treat and return
A recirculation system captures cooking fumes at the canopy, then passes them through grease filtration, fine filtration and an odour stage before returning the cleaned air to the kitchen. With no ductwork to outside, it can make a kitchen possible where a conventional system cannot go.
Recirculation is not right for every kitchen. It does not remove heat or moisture in the way an external extract does, so it is usually matched to electric cooking and moderate loads. We assess the menu, appliances and space before recommending it.

Recirculation FAQs
When should I use a recirculation canopy instead of extraction to outside?
When a duct to outside is not possible or not permitted, for example in listed buildings, shopping centres or leased units where the landlord will not allow external plant. If a conventional extract is possible, it is usually the better option.
Can gas appliances go under a recirculation canopy?
Recirculation does not remove combustion products or much heat, so it is normally matched to electric appliances. We will confirm what is suitable for your menu and equipment.
How often do recirculation filters need changing?
It depends on the cooking and hours, and the filters must be changed on schedule for the system to keep working. We set out the filter-change regime in the O&M documentation at handover, and we can carry out filter changes as planned work.
